The Advent of Love

Today we finish up our celebration of Advent. Each Monday we are posting a reflection on the weekly theme. We invite you to read the scriptures, say the prayer and meditate on the daily reflection with us on each day throughout the week as we celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ.

My wife and I are exiting probably the most exhausting season of life we have had as a married couple. There were many days when one of us was simply beat down and spent at the end of the day. On those days, the best thing the other person could do was hug the other, remind them it is almost over, say “I love you” and then just sit.

There is something about just being in the presence of someone who loves you that invigorates, re-energizes and gives hope. Knowing you are loved can get you through a lot.

imageThis week of Advent, we celebrate love. But this week, we also celebrate the coming of Christ. Christ comes not only to remind us we are loved, but to be near to us. He comes in the flesh to bee seen and heard and touched. He makes himself present.

We know this week will be filled with family and travel, but we encourage you to pause and take time to remember Jesus is near, present and has an incomprehensible love for YOU.

The rest of this week we will be posting small Scriptures and prayers to celebrate the coming of Christ. Try and spend some time letting them soak in and remind you of the constant presence of Christ.

Today, we want to remind you that you are loved. Spend some time meditating on this verse:

For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.

(Zep. 3:17)

And if you want more, listen to this song:
