We like to change things up here at Sacred Margins from time to time. Sometimes we write through whatever is on our minds. Others we deal with seasons like Lent or Advent. Still others we take extended looks at important subjects and themes.
We hope to keep things fresh and hit on different issues while sharing our hearts and minds with you.
With that said, we’ll be starting something this week that we’ve never done in this space before. We’ll be taking a book, reading it together and sharing some thoughts spurred by the author. It’s a way we can read together and we’d encourage you to read along and share your thoughts, too. Or you can simply follow us along the journey as we think out loud about some important topics.
The book we’ve chosen is Sarah Bessey’s Out of Sorts: Making Peace with an Evolving Faith. Bessey is someone we followed for some time through her blog (which is amazing — you should check it out) and through her previous book Jesus Feminist. She’s a tremendous thinker, someone who challenges the way we think with insight, humor and courage.
In Out of Sorts, Bessey deals with several core issues of the Christian experience, sharing how she has wrestled with tough questions about them and urges us to approach these things with courage and anticipation.
If you’re interested in reading along with us, we’d love for you to share your thoughts as well. You can find the book and more information here.
